At Skipton Tennis we offer a fully structured coaching programme that will cater for all players of all ages and abilities. Coaching is a great way to either start learning the game or to improve your current game. The main emphasis of all the coaching at Skipton Tennis Centre is to provide players with coaching in a ‘fun, safe and friendly environment’. Below is a brief overview of what we can offer.


These sessions are short in length (30 min) and are designed to introduce some fundamental skills in a fun environment. The sessions will introduce skills like: balance, moving, sending and receiving skills. All the skills learnt here will help with all sports not just tennis.


The mini tennis programme will cater for 5-11 year olds and is suitable for beginners and improvers. Mini tennis is a fun way to start learning the sport and get a taste for the game. It is played on a smaller court over smaller nets and with slower bouncing balls. The skills that are learnt through the Mini Tennis programme are guaranteed to help a child improve the key skills that are required for most sports.


The junior tennis programme can be accessed by beginners of any age between 12 & 16 or as a pathway from Mini Tennis. The programme will help juniors keep fit whilst playing a sport and learning plenty of skills. Within the programme players will take part in activities that will keep them active and involved. We also have plenty of fun social tournaments throughout the year. The junior programme is a great way to meet new friends and improve self confidence.


Skipton’s adult programme is a great way for either the juniors to carry on their progression through the tennis programme or for new adults to start playing. There is a range of ages and abilities involved within the programme. The sessions are set up to improve a player’s technical side of the game and match play for both singles and doubles. The sessions are a great way to socialise and keep fit. Attending the coaching really will provide that feel good factor after exercise. Whether you are a complete beginner or you already have tennis experience you are guaranteed to enjoy the sessions and improve your game.


The tennis holiday camps will run during the school holidays from Easter to October. The holiday camps are a great way to get a quick training blast and improve fast. The courses are split into two age brackets: 5 – 11 years and 12 – 16 years. The camps are extremely fun and social, and they are guaranteed to improve tennis skills, confidence and social skills, and fundamental skills for sport. The main emphasis is to provide tennis in a safe, fun and friendly environment. The reputation of the tennis camps speaks for itself as you don’t have to look far within the community before you find someone with past experience of the holiday camps.


Cardio Tennis is a high energy workout that is geared towards fitness and burning calories. If you are looking for a fun, fast, and high intensity workout then give cardio tennis a go.


Individual lessons will cater for all players of all ages and abilities. The sessions are much more focussed as they are on a one-to-one basis. One to one sessions can help a player improve their confidence before entering group sessions. Although the group sessions involve some level of intensity, individual lessons are better suited to those who want a much more intense and targeted lesson.
